Great stop in Timaru

On Friday we had to leave that wonderful home and family to start our way up towards Geraldine where we were planning to spend the night . We saw Hugh and Paulie and their cat before leaving town and took the time to share a laugh and some great tea. We took the road by noon and gave a lift to a young hitchhiker aiming for Christchurch who was keeping the car when Jean Michel and I were still going from bay to bay looking for more sea lions or penguins! We left her mid way because we had another visit in perspective as Jo and Sean offered us to stop for an other cup at Sean’s Parents who lived in Timaru , between Dunedin and Christchurch , a town we would be passing on our way . And so we did. It was an exquisite pause as we met the nicest people you could imagine. Vibrant and lively, well travelled and expert in loving after raising 6 children in a spacious and clear house set in a beautiful garden they planted . Part of became a vegetable garden and so we could admire lettuces and leaks, carrots and cabbages , onions and tomatoes and potatoes , those 'bottle brush' flowers and much more....We end up in a nice and extremely clean backpacker which used to be a maternity ! The place is run by a Dutch couple and we had a great time there as well sharing with young people from Switzerland, Israël , Germany , England and …France ! Then we slept as babies !
