Melbourne

J'étais venu voir Mary et je n'ai rien voulu voir de Melbourne . Ou presque . Je reviendrai .Les bagnards anglais étaient envoyés à Sydney. En 1835 le fils de l'un d'entre eux , John Batman arriva au Port Philipp et acheta des terres à la tribu aborigène Kulin qui vivait là . En 20 ans, Melbourne qui n'était au départ qu'un campement se transforma en une métropole car on trouva de l'or dans cette région Victoria et les chercheurs d'or se mirent à affluer. Ce qui créa une explosion de la population sans précédent . Comme l'or coulait à flots, c'est le cas de le dire, très vite de grands bâtiments cossus furent érigés. Et en 1880 la ville avait déjà mérité son surnom de "Merveilleuse Melbourne !C'est aujourd'hui la seconde ville de l'Australie . Et pour ce que j'en ai vu, c'est une ville pleine de charmes et de surprises où l'on dîne particulièrement bien !Un grznd Merci à Mary pour m'y avoir invitée.

I came in melbourne only to see Mary so I did not really care to visit the town now I will be back in march but for what I saw it is a charming city holding many surprises, a very elaborate victorian architecture , hundreds of nice restaurants , a lot a sports and events. While I was here it was the Australian 0pen, the grand Slam Tennis tornement . They had on the 26th the huge Australia Day Concert and they are now preparing for the gay and lesbian midsumma parades and festival ! It is not a town where you get bored ! Created as a camp as soon as in 1835 by John Batman, the son of a Sydney's convict , the town grew rapidly when gold was found in the rich fields of Victoria . This created an enormous influx of immigrants seeking their fortune and an enormous wealth was generated by this gold rush which led to the construction of grand public buildings . In 1880 already the town was earning the city nickname of " Marvellous Melbourne " It is to day the second city in Australia . It worths to be explore a bit more ! I had a great time here and can't thank Mary enough for her genuine hospitality .
