The imperial palace first where the Emperor used to stay before leaving Kyoto for Tokyo after the Meiji Restoration in 1868 with the beatiful grounds .
Then I saw the Nijo-jo Castle with its ornated audience halls and at night walked in its gardens where hundreds of cheery trees where lit .
