Je viens de lire un livre bouleversant : The Book of Negroes by Lawrence Hill
"Do not trust large bodies of water, and do not cross them . If you dear reader , have an African hue and find yourself led towards water with vanishing shores , seize your freedom by any means necessary. And cultivate distrust of the colour pink. Pink is taken as the colour of innocence, the colour of childhood, but as it slills across the water in the light of the dying sun , do not fall into its pretty path. There, right underneath, here a bottomless graveyard of children, mothers and mean."
Un livre de Laurence Hill publié en 1988 sur l'expérience romancée d'une esclave "with a rich dark skin" qui s'étend du milieu du 18ème siècle au début du 19ème. Je ne pense pas qu'il ait été traduit mais même en anglais je vous le recommande. Le langage est relativement simple mais les idées profondes et les faits hélas, probables sont incroyables.
