I took the slow boat to descend the Mekong . 8 hours on a large barge where it was so nice and so easy to meet Lao people . One of them had studied in China and was going back to his village for the first time in 12 years to present his young wife and his new baby . Needless to say that the whole village run to the boat! My cotton bracelets opened me many doors . When I was so cold I was by instance, offered to lie on a crew's mattress over the engine . Noisy of course but so so so much warmer. I felt at home among all of them and could have stopped anywhere for good if the work of Life was not to go on !
