Les éléphants

Mais si pour moi ce fut avant tout un festival de générosité et d’amitié partagée, c’était quand même aussi le festival des éléphants ; alors on en a vu forcément. On en a vu parader, concourir, courir, être élu « éléphant de l’année ». On en a vu travailler, charrier des cordes de bois, crotter, faire du trompe à queue et même bander ! Et quasiment enculer l’armée ! Il y avait beaucoup, beaucoup de monde. Les femmes portaient à 95% l’habit traditionnel, la jupe portefeuille fermée avec un motif décoratif en bas. Le nombre d’enfants souvent vêtus d’un pyjama sale, parfois déguisés de dentelles, était impressionnant. Il n’était pas rare de voir défiler derrière la mère assez généralement enceinte à nouveau une ribambelle de 7 ou 8 enfants rieurs et joueurs.
