In Cairns

Cairns is the tropical capital of Australia and a very cosmopolitan gateway. With about 100.000 inhabitants it looks as a big lively resort for magic holydays. Who wouldn’t like to swim and snorkel and fish and sail on those beautiful waters. Sure you are warned against the crocodiles, you have bottle of vinegar on every corner of the beaches in case you would be bitten by a jelly fish and we should choose the lagoon to swim in instead of the sea but with a diving suit you should be alright and the great barrier reef is said to be a wonder and is World Heritage listed . The beaches are truly magnificent, the marina or “the pier” a great place for shopping and dining (in fact we were there for breakfast to day and may go back later !) The Japanese seem to love it ! So, I found great sushis around the nice huge central backpacker we choose ,the “ Global Palace” , a big cinema transformed in an hostel in the year 2000 where we have a spacious room with air con of course because if it was raining when we arrived yesterday it is again very hot to day the 15th ! We have here the internet and one restaurant and one information centre and a travel agency, everything we may need .While I am doing this blog , Ann went to visit a coffee plantation . To morrow we are heading north !
