The goal was to reach Uluru , to see the Ayers Rocks, to feel the outback, the bush and the desert !
Here we go ! The first stop was for a camel farm.
The plan was around 1839 to install a telegraphic line beetween Victoria , New South Walles and London but how to make it cross the country ? Pionners were offered good monney to risk their life to go and see what the centre had to offer and if it was feasable . They quiclky saw that without water their horses were as themselves dying !!! so the first camel was imported from the Canaries Islands in 1840 as a first and in 1860 , 24 more camels were send here from Afhganisthan ready to cross the continent from south to north sous la direction de Burke et Willis . En 1895 on en comptait déjà 5000. Quite happy here, feeding on eucalyptus and acacias, adapted to the heat and well abble to stand days without water . And thanks to them, the line could be installed , a simple wire of galvanised iron on 40000 poles between Adelaïde and Darwin . The train followed . Thefamous Ghan ( in memeory of the afghan camels) .

By now we all had realised what a pleague the flies would be and everyone in the bus got a flie's net .
