Vibol is the head master of his school but still his salary would be far too low to raise a family so as most of the teachers ( salary : 52$ per month ) he is above all a farmer ! With his remarkable wife he plant the rice and bring up pigs.
We went for a long walk around the rices paddies and of course the neighborhood's curiosity was awakened . Older cousins and young cousins all wanted to see the Farangs with their long noise , their white skin and their hairs on the arms which seemed so exotic to them that they like to touch it !
Now that years are passing by it become easier for the Cambodians to speak of their huge suffering and as not only Vibol but his wife as well speak very good french it was fascinating for me to hear them tell their own stories . Chim lost 20 persons of her bvery close family , that means every single one . She was left alone , the only survivor of her branch . He lost all his brothers and sisters and remain the only child out of 6 . They know what they are talking about and we all felt privileged to be alive, there together, sharing not only wonderful foods but speaking freely our hearts out
