N'y attachez pas d'intérêt 

A novice once went to Abbot Macario to ask his advice on how best to please the Lord. "Go to the cemetery and insult the dead," said Macario. 

Un jour un novice demanda à l' Abbé  Macario  quel était le meilleur moyen de plaire à Dieu . Macario lui dit : "Va au cimetière et insulte les morts" .

The brother did as he was told. The following day, he went back to Macario. "Did they respond?" asked the Abbot.

Le novice suivit le conseil . Le jour suivant il retourna voir Macario "T'ont-t-ils répondu ?" lui demanda l'Abbé .  

"No," said the novice.

"Non répondit le novice 

"Then go and praise them instead.

"Et bien , retourne les louer" 

The novice obeyed. That same afternoon, he went back to the Abbot, who again asked if the dead had responded. 

Le novice obéit et quand il revint, l'Abbé kui demanda si les morts lui avaient répondu 

"No, they didn't," said the novice. 

"Non, dit le novice, ils ne m'ont pas répondu 

"In order to please the Lord, do exactly as they did," Macario told him.

Pour plaire à Dieu , fais exactement comme eux , dit l'Abbé Macario

"Take no notice of men's scorn or of their praise; in that way, you will be able to build your own path."

Ne prête pas plus  attention aux insultes  des hommes qu'à leurs louanges et ainsi tu seras à même de  construire ton propre chemin
