A story

The story is that Ru, the first polynesien to set foot on the island arrived with his wifes coming from Avaiki. He arrived at Akitua Motu , to day a Resort ) and called it “Enua Ru Ki Te Moana” ( Ru in search of Land over sea) . The present name “a’I taki means “keep the fire going” The first European to discover it was Captain Bligh who arrived there on the Bounty in april 1789 , on the 11th , 17 days before the famous mutinery. We could see it from the plane when we left and Jean Michel took this picture of the triangular hook shaped atoll , surely one of the most , if not the most, beautiful coral island in the Pacific .
