J'ai revu hier au soir à la télévision le film de Lars von Trier.. Avec Emily Watson (Bess), Stellan Skarsgard, (Jan) Katrin Cartlidge ( Dodo). Moins d'émotion certes pour moi que lors de sa sortie en salle en oct 96 mais la même fascination pour la beauté des paysages d' Écosse, pour les interludes poétiques et pour la magnifique performance d'Emily Watson toujours à fleur de cœur.. Sans doute l'histoire de Jan et de Bess m'a -t-elle semblée moins crédible aujourd'hui qu'il y a 14 ans bien que je puisse encore résonner avec la passion absolue qui l'anime, la croyance dans le cérémonial magique d'une foi enfantine ... et la lourde responsabilité des Églises.
Breaking the waves ! breaking the patterns, breaking the rules . In the 70th in Scotland the price to pay would still be very high indeed ....Bess would pay it cash and on the spot ! Her goodness and her purety , her goodwill and her certainties wouln't outweight the cruaulty of men , the lack of humanity of the church, the violent disdain of villagers...I saw the movie back on TV last night , the horrific story of a magical love ....14 years ago I was fascinated . Yesterday I was just so sad .
