Between 75 and 78 about 17000 men, women, children and infants , including 9 westerners who had been detained in the S-21 jail to be tortured , were transported to this extermination camp 15kms from Phnom Penh .Most of the time they were bludgeoned to death to avoid to loose bullets ! The remain of 8985 people were exhumed of mass graves in 1980 in this one time longan’s orchard . 43 of the 129 communal graves are left untouched .In 1988 A memorial stupa was erected to receive 8000 skulls arranged by sex and age, visible behind the clear glass panels.
