Kaburaki Kiyokata Museum
st
Passing near many beautiful cherry trees our first visit was for athis lovely tiny museum built on the site where Kanuraki a great painter of the modern Nihon-ga japanese style painting lived the last part of his life . Born in Tokyo in 1878 he was at first an illustrator for boks and magazines but later turned to painting in the Japanese style particularly beautiful japanese women . He died there in Kamakura in 1972 aged 93. I did immensely apreciated his paintings which taught me a lot on the daily life of common people this past century with such a nobility and such grace . To see as well his studio , his books , paints, pencils and brushes was moving .
