A night out

“I've got a feeling you will have done enough backpacking and camping by Saturday.
So get someone to drop you off at ……… have dinner with us and a couple of friends, artists
( and excellent judges of cheap wine) and stay Saturday night. We all look forward to meeting you!”

It was the substance of the very nice email we had received from Erwin married to a lovely classy lady named Kieran. Kieran is Maureen’s sister in law, Maureen being the friend of a friend , Ann and I met in Brisbane not long ago. Wasn’t it nice of them to invite us both in their wide modern peaceful and beautiful home? We were of course delighted by this experience ahead knowing that their company, as they are both journalists would be not only enjoyable but interesting as well . Glen, always gallant, drop us by the wineries, 15 or 20 ks from town, with all our gears by 6pm on Saturday and we happily met the family , Erwin , Kieran and their 2 wonderful and sociable children , Jacquie( just 18) and Rainer (soon 16) . Our room was spacious and clear and after the nights on the ground you can imagine how nice the light silky quilt felt and how good the hot shower sounds! The friends were as pleasant as you could dream of, both painters and we did enjoy every topic of the conversation as I thought .

The diner cooked by Kieran was sumptuous, the cake made by Jacquie was a delight and of course the wine was not cheap at all, so on the terrace , the flies once more asleep, we had one of our highlight by nightlight in Australia ! Thanks to you all dear folks .
