What a great surprise I had when we did reach the Catlins an unspoilt coastal area with miles and miles of surfing beaches and dunes with thousands of lupins . What a wonderland ! Next to it you have beech forests and in between very very green hills including falls and caves. To me everything was there to be fully happy and I could have stayed there for ever. I am not the only one to appreciate this magical place as sea lions, dolphins, penguins, fur seals find their way to rest around Kaka Bay.
