Cruise in Aitutaki

For our last day in Aitutaki we indulge in a mini cruise .We were 10. Jean Michel , myself and 4 pairs of very young honeymooners, so young that Jean Michel said we could be their grand parents . In fact the organiser had stored the both of us in a following boat transporting the food as we were going to picnic on a “motu” or little atoll Maina where funny enough there are absolutely no flies or mosquitoes ! After visiting a tortoise rescue farm we head off for the turquoise lagoon where Jean Michel could feed the fishes then snorkels among them ! While I choose to stay aboard with the 2 cooks and stay with them while they were preparing the nicest lunch we could dream of , made of many variety of fruits, pawpaw salad, crab salad , grilled bananas , buttered bread, fried egg and barbecued tuna , all this served in the traditional way in a plate made of palm weaved leaves . The pictures won’t let you see the real colours there and the only way to understand how beautiful it can be is to come and witness it by yourselves. If you ever do the highly recommended “Teking Tour”( organised , mind you by the island’s king himself who seem to possess most of the land around ) you won’t be disappointed as it is a must to see where the last “Survivors” were filmed . We did survive ourselves the great sunny day but where quite happy to come back around 4 in the cool nest of Amuri Guesthouse chewing fresh oranges and enjoying one more sunset!To morrow we are packing for colder New Zealand.
